The number of Missiganders hospitalized for COVID-19 is less than 1,000
(WXYZ) — The number of people admitted to COVID-19 in Michigan is now less than 1,000 within two months of setting records.
According to the latest information from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, 777 adults have been hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 cases and 64 have suspected COVID-19 cases. It is as of March 7th.
The state has fallen below 1,000 patients admitted with COVID-19 last Friday, and the number continues to decline.
Compare with January 10, when the state set a record of 4,580 people in hospitals with confirmed cases of COVID-19. In less than two months, hospitalizations have dropped by more than 80%.
According to the state, Metro Detroit remains the most hospitalized, with 120 in Auckland, Macomb and St. Clair County and 234 in Detroit, Monroe, Washtenaw and Wayne County.
Number of inpatient children with 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19. It peaked at 117 on January 14.
Cases of COVID-19 have continued to decline significantly from their peak earlier this year due to the surge in Omicron. On Monday, the state reported an average of 552 new cases per day over the weekend. This is the lowest daily case average since the summer of 2020.
