Utah reports less than 200 new COVID-19 cases for 4 consecutive days
The state on Wednesday reported the deaths of nine new COVID-19s.

The number of new coronavirus cases in Utah is relatively low, at 198. A positive test was reported on Wednesday.
The state reported less than 200 new cases for four consecutive days. The Utah Health Department on Wednesday also reported nine more COVID-19 deaths, for a total of 4,494 deaths since the pandemic began. Five of the deaths reported on Wednesday occurred before February 9.
The state has reported a total of 1,251 new COVID-19 cases in the past week, averaging about 179 cases per day. During the surge in Omicron variants in January and early February, Utah’s daily number of cases peaked on January 14, with 13,321 new cases reported in one day.
The number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 continues to decline. As of Wednesday, 228 people were hospitalized — 10 less than reported on Monday, with state data showing the lowest numbers reported in eight months.
Utah-wide ICU beds are 68.7% filled, significantly increasing the 85% threshold that healthcare professionals say is needed to explain the rooms, equipment, and staffing available for new patients. It is below. 10% of all ICU patients in Utah are hospitalized for COVID-19.

• Unvaccinated people are twice as likely to be infected with the virus as fully vaccinated and 2.1 times as likely as boosted.
While the status data is displayed As of Wednesday, 61.2% of Utahns were fully vaccinated and only 27.1% of all Utahns were boosted with the COVID-19 vaccine.

Number of fully vaccinated Utahns • 1,989,480 — 61.2% of Utah’s total population. This is an increase of 644 over the past day.

Vaccination status • Health officials do not immediately know or release vaccination status for people who test positive, are hospitalized, or die. They calculate the overall risk ratio for these results, depending on the vaccination status described above.
Tests reported in the last day • A total of 7,594 people were tested.
Deaths reported in the last day • Nine. Five of these people died before February 9.
Weber County reported three deaths — two men aged 45-64 and a man aged 65-84.
Two deaths have occurred in Salt Lake County — both 65-84 men.
Four counties each reported one death — a man in Beaver County over the age of 85. Box Elder County Women 65-84; Cash County Women 54-64; and Emery County Men 65-84.
Hospitalizations reported in the last day • 228. It’s 10 less than what was reported on Tuesday.36 of the people currently in the hospital It is in the intensive care unit and has decreased by 14 since Tuesday.
Percentage of positive tests • In the state’s original method, the rate is 6.1% in the past day. This is lower than the 7-day average of 8.2%.
The state’s new method counts all test results, including repeated tests for the same individual. Wednesday’s rate was 2.6%, lower than the 7-day average of 5.2%.
