Covid-19 S’pore infection growth rate drops to 0.73
Singapore-On Thursday (March 17th), the weekly increase in infection in Covid-19 cases dropped to 0.73. It decreased from 0.76 on Wednesday.
This rate refers to the ratio of cases in the community last week to the previous week. Multiple percentages mean that the number of new weekly Covid-19 cases is increasing.
The Ministry of Health also reported 10,713 new infections in a daily update on Thursday. This was down from a total of 11,278 cases on Wednesday.
Also, as of noon on Thursday, 1,238 to 1,230 people were hospitalized the day before.
Eleven to twelve deaths were announced on Wednesday.
There were 29 patients in the intensive care unit, and 146 needed oxygen supplementation.
Of the local cases, 9,425 cases were detected by simple antigen test (ART) and were evaluated by physicians as having mild symptoms and low risk.
An additional 1,160 cases were detected in the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
There were 128 new imported cases, 38 of which were detected by PCR tests and 90 by ART.
As of Wednesday, Singapore has recorded a total of 986,320 Covid-19 cases and 1,182 deaths.
Approximately 95% of Singapore’s eligible population has completed a complete vaccination program and 70% of the total population has been boosted.
