A Michigan woman wants her story to encourage others to monitor for signs of kidney disease
Ann Arbor, Michigan – As a student and college athlete University of MichiganRita White was always busy.
“I was very athletic,” White said. “I was involved in volleyball and athletics. I was pretty active in many sports.
“At that time, I was pretty good at my health, but near my fourth grade, I noticed a symptom, which drew my attention to my health.”
One of those symptoms was fatigue. She wrote it in chalk to fit her tight schedule.
White graduated from the University of Michigan and then Wayne State University 2001 law school. Until then, her doctor noticed a problem during regular urinalysis.
“They did a urine test and found that there was blood in my urine, which was associated with renal failure,” White said. “As you know, it was so mild that it wasn’t a big deal. Initially, I wasn’t taking kidney medicine to stabilize my kidneys, so I basically observed my kidneys and I kept myself. “

There are various stages of chronic kidney disease. White was in the early stages-Stage 1.

It’s healthy because both diabetes and high blood pressure can actually be affected by lifestyle changes. A good diet, regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight are very effective in reducing the effects of high blood pressure and, as a result, reducing the risk of chronic kidney disease. “

White developed both high blood pressure and high cholesterol. As her years passed and her condition worsened, she started her dialysis at her home in 2018 with the help of her husband. And last year she had a kidney transplant.
