Magnificent researchers have found that pregnant people vaccinated with COVID-19 are twice as likely to be infected with the virus as non-pregnant people. Washington post Reported on March 31st.
The researchers analyzed the medical records of 13.8 million patients from Epic from January 2021 to January 2022.
They measured the risk of COVID-19 infection by analyzing records of pairs of fully vaccinated patients from the same region of the country.
In each pair, one patient had the condition being measured, while the other did not.
They found that of the 10,000 pregnant individuals included in the study, 90% were more likely to be infected with COVID-19 than the same number of non-pregnant individuals.
These findings suggest that pregnancy appears to be at higher risk of contracting COVID-19 than a weakened immune system.
“It would be great if you were completely vaccinated,” said Dr. David Little, MD, lead author of the study and clinical informatics at Epic. post.. “But if you are completely vaccinated and become pregnant, you are at increased risk of getting COVID.”
