Utah reported 626 new COVID-19 cases in the past week, a decrease of 26.7%
Utah reported that there were far fewer cases of coronavirus in the week ending Sunday, adding 626 new cases. This is a 26.7% reduction from the previous week’s aggregate of 854 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Utah ranks 44th among the fastest-spreading states of the coronavirus per capita, according to USA TODAY network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data. Last week, cases of coronavirus in the United States decreased by 9.9% from the previous week, and 195,963 cases were reported. With 0.96% of the country’s population, Utah had 0.32% of the country’s case last week. Nationwide, 22 states had more cases in the most recent week than in the previous week.
Throughout Utah, cases decreased in five counties, the most in Salt Lake County, from 424 cases a week ago to 272 cases. In Utah County, 87 out of 130 cases. In San Juan County, there were 3 out of 6 cases.

Utah ranks 28th in the state with at least one vaccination, with 71.8% of its population vaccinated at least partially. The national percentage is 77%, as shown by USA TODAY analysis of CDC data. The most used Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the United States should be given twice at intervals of several weeks.
In the week ending Sunday, Utah reported an additional 25,785 vaccinations, including 5,909 initial doses. Last week, the state received 15,843 vaccinations, including 3,485 initial doses. In total, Utah reported that it administered a total dose of 5,142,688.
Within Utah, the worst weekly outbreak per capita was Summit County, with 59 per 100,000 per week. 36 Tooele County. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, high-level community infections start at 100 per 100,000 people per week.
Overall, the newest case was added in Salt Lake County, with 272 cases. Utah County, 87 cases. Davis County, 84.
In Utah, 12 people were reported dead from COVID-19 during the week ending Sunday. The week before that, 141 people were reported dead.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 927,922 people have been positive for the coronavirus and 4,714 have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 80,155,397 people are positive and 982,565 die.

Utah COVID-19 hospitalization reduced
USA TODAY analyzed data from a federal hospital on Sunday, April 3rd.

Hospitals in 15 states reported more COVID-19 patients than they did a week ago, while hospitals in 12 states had more COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit. Hospitals in 26 states have admitted more COVID-19 patients in the week more recent than last week, a USA TODAY analysis of US health and welfare data shows.
