Utah reports nearly 700 new COVID-19 cases.Sewage shows increased virus levels at 6 sites
The Utah Department of Health reported that 16 people died, including two men under the age of 45.

Utah recorded about 700 new COVID-19 cases last week and 16 deaths, including two Utah county men under the age of 45, the State Department of Health reported Thursday.
State officials expect the number of cases to decline as the test site is closed, with data showing that the average 7-day test dropped from 4,869 on March 31 to 3,492 on Wednesday.
Due to its presumption and closure, authorities said they would shift their focus to monitoring sewage, hospitalization, and visits to emergency rooms to determine the spread of the coronavirus.
The Utah Department of Environmental Quality has shown that six (18.8%) of Utah’s 32 urban wastewater facilities have shown increased coronavirus levels. Sites are located in Taylorsville, Riverton, Bluffdale, Cedar City, St. George and Moab.
The virus is decreasing in Vernal, Tooele and Lehi. Coronavirus levels remained stable elsewhere along the Wasatch Front and Wasatch Back.
Coronavirus patients accounted for 0.57% of last week’s emergency room visits, compared to 0.66% last week.
The number of Utahns vaccinated against the virus has increased by 24,541 since March 31, when the state last released COVID-19 data.
Last week, over 3,600 were fully vaccinated. In other words, you have been vaccinated twice with the mRNA series vaccines such as Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech, or once with the Janssen vaccine.
Since last week, an additional 95 Utahns have been hospitalized for coronavirus, bringing the total pandemic to 34,129. Currently, Utah hospitals have 80 COVID-19 patients, 13 fewer than last week.
The number of COVID-19 patients in the ICU has decreased from 18 to 15.

A man in Sevier County over the age of 85 died. Seven Utahns between the ages of 65 and 84 have died. They included men and women in Salt Lake County. Weber County Men and Women. A man from Utah County and two women from Washington County.
A woman from Salt Lake County between the ages of 45 and 64 has died. Five men of that age group died, one from Garfield, Salt Lake, Weber, Washington, and Davis counties.
Two Utah county men between the ages of 25 and 44 also died.
Hospitalization reported last week • 80. That’s 13 less than reported last week. Of the patients currently hospitalized, 15 are in the intensive care unit, three less than reported last week.
Percentage of positive tests • Counting all test results, including repeated tests for the same individual, this week’s rate was 2.76%. This is slightly lower than the average of 2.93% for the previous 7 days.
