A UK study found symptoms from Omicron, two days shorter than two days from Delta.

April 7 (Reuters)-Disease caused by the Omicron subspecies is on average about two days shorter than the Delta subspecies. This is a large study of vaccinated British people who recorded the symptoms of COVID-19 on their smartphones after a breakthrough infection.
“Shorter presentation of symptoms suggests that the duration of infection may be shorter while waiting for confirmation from viral load studies, which may affect workplace health policy and public health guidance. “I do,” the author of the study wrote.
Based on the ZoeCOVID app, which collects data on self-reported symptoms, the study also found that symptomatic Omicron infections were 25% less likely to lead to hospitalization than in Delta.

Although the severity of Omicron is known to be low, this study is unique in its detailed analysis and corrected the distortions caused by different vaccination status by examining only vaccinated volunteers.
Researchers at King’s College London have found two sets: June 1, 2021 to November 27, 2021 and December 20, 2021 to January 17, 2022, where delta variants account for more than 70% of cases. I analyzed the data. Omicron was more than 70% widespread.
Patients (nearly 5,000 in each group) were matched and 1: 1 compared to other groups of people of the same age, gender, and vaccination dose.
The shorter duration of Omicron’s symptoms compared to Delta was more pronounced in patients who received three vaccinations. Symptoms lasted an average of 7.7 days during the Delta-dominated period and decreased by only 4.4 days, or 3.3 days, during the Omicron period.
Among patients who received only two doses of the vaccine, Delta’s symptoms lasted 9.6 days and Omicron’s symptoms lasted 8.3 days, a difference of only 1.3 days.
Formerly known as the COVID Symptoms Research App, the Zoe COVID Research Application collects data on self-reported symptoms.
ZOE Ltd was initially founded to provide customized nutritional advice based on test kits. The app is a non-profit initiative in collaboration with King’s College London and is funded by the Ministry of Health.
The study will be published Thursday in the medical journal The Lancet and will be presented at the European Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Conference later this month.
