Outbreak of Neisseria meningitidis reported by the Ministry of Health in Florida
Miami – The Florida Department of Health is urging people to be vaccinated against meningococcal disease because the state is currently outbreaks.
Although exact figures have not been released, health officials said the number of cases identified this year is already above the five-year average of Florida meningococcal disease.
“FDOH epidemiologists are not only investigating each case, but also contacting people who are potentially or directly exposed to known cases to provide information and treatment options,” the agency news. The release states.
