Studies show that high cardiovascular risk is closely associated with the symptoms of depression

Scientists also argued in their study that after an average of two years, patients had lower depression scores, with the greatest reduction in MR and HR participants with high baseline cholesterol levels.
Researchers said that “high” and “very high cardiovascular risk” are particularly associated with depressive symptoms in women. They also argued that further investigation was needed on the role of other factors, such as adherence to the Mediterranean diet. The authors conclude that “high cardiovascular risk, especially in women, is associated with the symptoms of depression in the elderly.”
