Four states report outbreaks of more high-route bird flu in poultry
Four states, including the hit Minnesota, reported outbreaks of more pathogenic bird flu, imposing poultry losses on more than 28.8 million birds from 29 states.
In Minnesota, six more outbreaks have been reported in five counties, all related to turkey farms. According to the Minnesota National Institute of Animal Health (MBAH), the state currently reports 46 outbreaks and poultry losses now exceed 2.1 million. Minnesota is the top turkey producer in the United States.
According to the latest information from the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), three other states have reported more outbreaks. In the Midwest, North Dakota reported backyard poultry outbreaks in Stutsman County in the central part of the state, increasing the total to 11.
In the west, Colorado reported a second outbreak. This time it occurred on a broiler farm in the southwestern Montrose County, where 60,000 birds are bred. And Idaho reported a third outbreak that struck a flock of 30 backyard birds in Gooding County in the south-central region.
Outbreaks involve the highly pathogenic Eurasian H5N1 strain, which has also resulted in poultry loss in other parts of the world.

Earlier this year, Canada reported the emergence of Eurasian H5N1 in wild birds and poultry in the eastern states of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Since then, outbreaks have been reported in several states, including the West, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and state authorities. They included Ontario (16 outbreaks), Alberta (12), Quebec (4), Saskatchewan (2), and British Columbia (1). Manitoba yesterday identified H5N1 in samples of wild snow geese and bald eagles.

WHO: Global influenza still rebounding in the Northern Hemisphere
The World Health Organization (WHO) is this week with the latest World Health Organization (WHO) updates on the latest World Influenza for the first few days of the end of March and April, with global influenza activity in January. He said it had declined, recovered levels in February and is still rising.
In the Northern Hemisphere, influenza activity increased in North America, but at lower levels than in the pre-COVID season. Influenza activity in Europe is stable.
Countries reporting an increase in illnesses such as influenza include Tunisia and Georgia. Influenza B activity in China is declining.
In the Southern Hemisphere, influenza levels are low, but detection of the H3N2 strain continues in some temperate regions of South America and South Africa.
Worldwide, 96.5% of respiratory samples that were positive for influenza during the latest reporting period were influenza A. Of the subtyped influenza A samples, 94.5% were H3N2.
