In this study of about 500,000 British adults between the ages of 38 and 73, those who slept about 7 hours each night had more or less cognitive ability and mental health compared to those who had more or less. It turns out that health tends to be better.
Participants participating in the UK Biobank project were asked about sleep patterns, mental health, and health and completed a series of cognitive tests. Brain images and genetic data were available on nearly 40,000 of them.
