According to local health authorities, the suburban Cook County is currently at a “medium” risk level for COVID infection.

The Cook County Public Health Service issued a warning on Friday afternoon that it had raised the county to the second highest risk level, as “increased positive cases” was designated by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

According to the latest update of the CDC on Friday, The other two Chicago counties were also in the medium risk category.

With the addition of Lake County this week, Dupage County has risen to last week’s level and stayed there this week as well.

In addition to DuPage and Lake counties, Champaign, McLean, and Logan counties in Illinois are also listed at the CDC’s “medium” infection risk level.

According to the CDC, the rest of Illinois remains at low levels.
