Contra Costa County Health Department Introduces “Road to Zero” in COVID-19 Fight – NBC Bay Area
Contra Costa Health (CCH) is refocusing on responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in eliminating preventable deaths within the county.
The Path to Zero initiative includes strategies to use less underutilized COVID-19 protection, especially prescription and home testing resources, especially in communities with the highest infection and mortality rates.
“No one should die of COVID-19 when free tests, vaccines and effective medicines are all readily available in our community,” Contra Costa Health Director Annaros said in a statement on Monday. .. “Death from preventable COVID-19 in our county is unacceptable.”

CCH has opened an advice nurse line to county residents who test positive for COVID-19 (PCR / lab or home test). Advice Nurses screen callers and schedule free telemedicine appointments and prescriptions for treatment when medically appropriate.
Most people over the age of 12 can receive prescriptions for antiviral drugs, reducing the risk of serious illness and death. The drug works best within 48 hours of a positive test result.

On Monday, the CCH also issued a health advisory to healthcare providers, urging all COVID-positive residents to have timely access to the appropriate medicines.
Throughout this month, CCH will develop additional efforts to reduce preventable COVID-19 deaths, reduce spread, save lives through early testing and treatment, and risk many people dying from COVID-19. We aim to address increasing social inequality.
