Hospitalization increases when Maine reports 1,030 new COVID-19 cases
Maine reported more than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday for the second consecutive day, further increasing the number of inpatients with the virus.
According to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, five more residents of Maine have died from the disease.

Hospitalization in Maine has increased by about 60% over the past three weeks, but the average number of cases has more than tripled.
The state reported 1,030 new cases of COVID on Wednesday, with a 7-day average increasing to 710 new cases per day. Two weeks ago, the daily average was 200.
The number of hospitalized patients increased from 162 on Tuesday to 169. Of those who were in the hospital on Wednesday morning, 30 received critical care and 3 received respiratory treatment.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Maine has recorded 248,099 cases and 2,296 deaths.
