Researchers Find New Approaches for Treating Catastrophic Brain Tumors

Washington [US]May 10 (ANI): The results of a seven-year research project to treat glioblastoma polymorphism (GBM), one of the most common and destructive forms of adult brain cancer. Suggests that there may be a new approach to.
In a peer-reviewed study published by BMC Cancer, scientists at Sally University found that the short chain of amino acids (HTL-001 peptide) is the GBM-Hox gene. This study was performed on cell and animal models.
The HTL-001 peptide used in this study has undergone safety testing and is suitable for patient testing. These trials are currently being investigated in GBM and other cancers.
Hardev Pandha, Project Leader and Professor of Oncology at Sally University, said:
“People suffering from glioblastoma polymorphism show a survival rate of 5% in 5 years. This has not improved in decades. We are still in the early stages of the process. A seven-year project is to find a solution to Hox gene dysregulation that has proven elusive as a long-standing target associated with the growth of GBM and other cancers. ”
Ironically, the Hox gene is involved in the healthy growth of brain tissue, but it is usually active in growing embryos and then silenced at birth. However, if they are improperly “switched on” again, their activity can lead to cancer progression. Hox gene dysregulation has long been recognized in GBM.
The project was carried out in collaboration with Surrey University, the University of Leeds, Texas University, and HOX Therapeutics, a startup at Surrey University based in the University’s Surrey Research Park.
Professor Susan Short, co-author of a study at the University of Leeds, said:
“There is an urgent need for new treatments for these aggressive brain tumors. Targeting developing genes, such as the HOX gene, which switches abnormally in tumor cells, can be life-threatening for glioblastoma growth. It’s a novel and effective way to prevent it from becoming. ”
