On Thursday, it said it applied for approval from the Food and Drug Administration for the first COVID-19 of its kind and a home molecular test for influenza. Published in February 2021, the medical technology company specializes in disposable test kits for respiratory illness. “We are seeking to prescribe a PCR quality test at home for patients with suspected COVID-19 or influenza,” the company said in a statement. The company hopes to get approval prior to the fall and winter when COVID and the influenza virus are expected to spread at the same time. The company first received FDA approval for home COVID testing in November 2020. The new test can independently test COVID-19, Flu A, and Flu B using the same platform and palm-sized device design. A single nasal swab with results within 30 minutes. Stocks weren’t active before the market yet, but the S & P 500 fell 71% year-to-date.
