CDC panel discussing whether to recommend boosters for children ages 5-11
Scientific advisors at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention will meet on Thursday to discuss whether to recommend a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to children aged 5 to 11 years.
The Food and Drug Administration approved booster shots for this age group on Tuesday. CDC advisors are also expected to approve the shot. The agency’s director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, is expected to approve the recommendations soon.
