Orange County Register reported 2,973 new cases and 4 deaths since May 24 – Orange County Register
The OC Health Care Agency reported an additional 2,973 cases of coronavirus between Tuesday, May 24th and Friday, May 27th, increasing the cumulative total since the county began follow-up to 569,375.
As of Friday, May 27, 10,304 new cases have been reported in the last two weeks. The county reports an average of 21.5 new cases per day for every 100,000 residents.
The county is currently reporting updates on coronavirus-related cases on Tuesdays and Fridays, following changes in the reporting schedule at the state level.
139 people were reported infected with the coronavirus at the Orange County hospital on Friday, 17 of whom needed intensive care.
The county reported four deaths on Friday, boosting the number of residents of Orange County who died from the virus to 7,034.
Data on deaths within the county may be edited from a death certificate or collected during the case investigation process and may take several weeks to process. The latest recorded death was May 18th.
Of the 7,034 deaths from the virus, 1,337 were listed as residents of skilled care facilities, 706 as life support facilities, two as OC prison inmates, and 21 as homeless.
It is estimated that 546,563 people in the county have recovered from the virus. The number of people who have recovered is based on the cumulative number of cases over the last 28 days.
