Fifth estimated monkeypox case identified in New York City
New York -New York City health officials have identified a fifth putative case Monkeypox virus.
There will be 5 in total.
Monkeypox is the most common in Africa and is spread by skin-to-skin contact. According to the CDC, cases elsewhere are usually associated with overseas travel and imported animals.
The World Health Organization on Wednesday said the number of cases has skyrocketed from just over 250 to 550 worldwide in the last few days. It estimates that many cases are undetected and widespread.
