Two Cases of Legionellosis That May Be Related to Hotels in Wake County, Wake County Public Health :: WRAL.com
Wake County, North Carolina — Wake County Public Health said Friday warned the community about two diagnosed cases of legionellosis.
Before they got sick, Wake County Public Health said both people visited the Clarion Point Wake Forest Hotel. The county said both individuals were recovering after treatment.
Legionellosis is a type of pneumonia caused by a type of bacterium called Legionella that is commonly found in water.
“Legionellosis is rare but dangerous,” said Dr. Alexa Mises Marchuk of UNC. The only way to know if it’s a corps is to take a test. “
Bacteria are not normally transmitted from person to person, according to Martinuk, but can be very dangerous to some.
