Seward Reports COVID-19 Outbreak | Peninsula Clarion
Seward announced the outbreak of COVID-19 on Friday after several new cases were reported last week.
Public health defines an outbreak as more than one case, Seward said in a Friday release.
Since Thursday, the state has reported four new resident cases and one new non-resident case, bringing the total number of Seward cases to nine. Eight resident cases and one non-resident case.
In response to a positive case, Seward Community Health Center launched a targeted COVID-19 test on Saturday. The test is recommended for anyone who visits Seward Ale House on June 21, 22, and 23, or Yukon Bar on June 23.
The test will be conducted from Monday, June 29th to Thursday, July 2nd from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 2pm at the Seward Community Health Center at 417 First Ave.
Several companies in Seward, such as Yukon Bar, Seward Ale House, Seward Brewing Company, Cookery, Tufted Puffin, Tony’s Bar, and Launch Karon, closed the doors as they happened, the city said.

Two more deaths of the inhabitants were reported on Friday. According to a DHSS Friday press release, the fatalities occurred outside Alaska in May but are recorded as residents of Juneau. Both lived in nursing homes in separate states when they died.
