Ancient origin of plague dating back to Lakes in Central Asia
Berlin- European scientists say they have identified the origin of plague, a bacterial plague that wiped out half of the continent’s population in the 14th century.
The findings contradict other theories that the disease, which recurred in the early 19th century and left its mark throughout the Middle East and North Africa, may have been the first to occur in China.
Using a study by historian Phil Slavin of the University of Stirling in Scotland, he suggested that the emergence of this disease may be associated with an abnormal surge in deaths in Central Asian towns in 1338-1339. He examined the DNA from the bodies found there.

The authors theoretically acknowledge that the bacterium can develop elsewhere and spread to Central Asia without significant changes, but evidence suggests that this is unlikely. Said De Witte.
