Charlotte, NC (WBTV)-Charlotte’s father says his 6-year-old son was mistakenly given two COVID-19 booster shots. He says it happened on Monday, June 13th at the Teen Health Connection through Atrium Health in the Cotswolds area.
Ryan Shell and his wife took him there because they say his Atrium Health pediatrician didn’t have a booster in his office. They thought the teen health center was the next best option because it was for young people and was also affiliated with the atrium.
They thought everything was fine until the phone rang the day after his appointment.
“My wife basically got a call to apologize, but your son, who came with all the other kids because he was told he came on Monday, is the one who manages the shots. I didn’t know, so I received twice the dose and was supposed to dilute it, “Shell said.
He and his wife were very worried and wanted the answer they said they didn’t give them to the phone guy.

WBTV asked Atrium Health how this happened and how many children were affected.
A spokeswoman did not answer these questions, but sent the following statement:
