Johnson County reported 268 additional COVID-19 cases this week
Iowa reported new cases of 3,919 coronaviruses in the week ending Sunday, starting from 3,987 in the previous week for the virus that causes COVID-19.
Iowa is ranked 43rd among the fastest-spreading states of the coronavirus per capita, according to USA TODAY network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data. Last week, cases of coronavirus in the United States decreased by 1.2% from the previous week, and 721,538 cases were reported. With 0.95% of the country’s population, Iowa had 0.54% of the country’s cases last week. Nationwide, 24 states had more cases last week than last week.

Johnson County reported 268 cases and one death last week. A week ago, it reported 315 cases and zero deaths. Through the pandemic, 38,071 cases and 155 deaths have been reported.
Washington County reported 19 cases and 0 deaths last week. A week ago, it reported 26 cases and zero deaths. Through the pandemic, 5,829 cases and 79 deaths have been reported.
Within Iowa, the worst weekly outbreak per person was in Mills County, with 245 cases per 100,000 people per week. 226 Hancock County. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, high-level community infections start at 100 per 100,000 people per week.
Overall, Pork County added the newest cases, with 762 cases. Linn County, 352 cases. Johnson County was 268. Weekly cases increased in 47 counties from the previous week. The worst increase from last week’s pace was in the Mills, Pork and Lee counties.

Throughout Iowa, cases decreased in 48 counties, the most in Johnson County, from 315 a week ago to 268. In Wapello County, 31 out of 64 cases. In Jasper County, 51 out of 79 cases.
In Iowa, 65 people were reported dead from COVID-19 during the week ending Sunday. The week before that, Zero people were reported dead.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 792,208 people have been coronavirus-positive and 9,679 have died from the disease in Iowa, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 86,967,639 are positive and 1,015,938 have died.

Iowa’s COVID-19 hospitalization increased
USA TODAY analyzed federal hospital data as of Sunday, June 26th. COVID patients who may have been admitted to the state:

COVID patients who may be hospitalized in Japan:

Hospitals in 34 states reported more COVID-19 patients than they did a week ago, while hospitals in 25 states had more COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit. Hospitals in 39 states have admitted more COVID-19 patients than last week, a USA TODAY analysis of US health and welfare data shows.
