West Nile virus found in Milpitas mosquitoes – NBC Bay Area
West Nile virus was detected in Santa Clara County for the first time this year, according to vector control officials.
The county’s Vector Control District has confirmed the presence of the virus in a population of mosquitoes with the 95035 zip code in Milpitas. Vector Control personnel are planning to treat adult mosquitoes around Marilyn Drive and Penitencia Street around 10 am on Thursday.
According to the Vector Control District, residents in areas where treatment is planned do not need to be relocated, and the pesticides used minimize the risk to humans, animals and the environment.
