Cases of monkeypox increased by 77% in a week, WHO reports:
The World Health Organization on Thursday reported a 77% increase in the number confirmed in the laboratory per week. Monkeypox The number of cases exceeds 6,000 worldwide, and two more have died in parts of Africa where the virus has spread over the years.

WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Gebreez said Wednesday that he was “concerned about the size and spread of the virus” and that more than 80% of cases occurred in Europe. He said he would convene the next meeting of the WHO Expert Panel, which is monitoring the outbreak by the week of July 18.
Most monkeypox patients experience fever, body aches, chills, and malaise. People with more serious illnesses have rashes and lesions on their faces and hands that can spread to other parts of the body.
The disease is endemic in parts of Africa and people have been infected by bites from rodents and small animals. The monkeypox virus usually does not spread easily among people.
Cases began to appear in Europe and the United States in May. Many people infected with the virus were traveling abroad.
