The first “potential” monkeypox case being investigated in Pierce County
Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is working with the CDC to confirm the results.

The first probably case of monkeypox virus in Pierce County is currently under investigation, Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department said on Saturday.
A man in his thirties tested positive for the orthopox virus on Saturday, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will work to see if the patient is infected with the monkeypox virus.
According to Tacoma-Pierce County Health Authority, the patient has not been hospitalized and is recovering at home.
