Recommendations for mosquito-borne diseases issued in Miami-Dade after the first local case of dengue this year
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County issued a recommendation for mosquito-borne illness after the first local case of dengue infection was identified this year.
According to the Ministry of Health, dengue is “a mosquito bite-spreading virus from Aedes mosquitoes that also spreads chikungunya and Zika viruses. Most people infected with dengue are mild or asymptomatic. Usually recovers in about a week. “
Health officials are urging residents to take precautions to prevent mosquito breeding and protect their skin.
