But in that case, “the risk of transmission is very low, usually from very prolonged contact with bodily fluids of monkeypox patients.”
How do you know if you have monkeypox? Symptoms are similar to other viruses, but with some additions.
“The flu-like illness is coughing, sneezing, and fever, but it has some characteristic features, such as swollen lymph nodes and a rash, which is a fluid-filled vesicle.
The key to stopping monkeypox is getting a vaccine, but progress has been slow, to say the least.
“This is two courses and it’s just [the 150,000 at-risk New Yorkers]But unfortunately, I think the time to contain this outbreak is running out,” said Jason Cianciotto, vice president of communications and public policy for Gay Men’s Health Crisis, GMHC.

“I don’t think we can wait for a vaccine to come and protect us,” said Waleed Javeid, an epidemiologist and head of infection control at Mount Sinai Hospital. We have to protect ourselves,” he said.
Without a vaccine, how can you protect yourself from monkeypox? It’s actually like fighting COVID.
“For example, some of the symptoms of monkeypox are respiratory, so frequent hand washing and even masks help in some ways. That’s it,” said Parikh.
