Use of ICU Hospital Bed for COVID-19 Jump in Minnesota
Minneapolis (AP) — The number of Minnesotas receiving intensive care for COVID-19 has increased by nine, with health officials reporting Friday with the highest daily increase over a month.
Star Tribune has reported an increase because government leaders across the country are taking steps to prevent the nationwide surge of new cases of coronavirus confirmed in the laboratory.
The Minnesota Department of Health added 423 newly confirmed cases and eight additional deaths to its tally on Friday. The state reported a total of 37,624 confirmed cases.
Since mid-June, the number of new diagnoses daily has grown steadily in Minnesota. This is because more young people were infected with the virus and the median age of infection fell.
The additional nine in intensive care represent the largest daily increase in ICU care since May 29. .. However, on Thursday the department reported an increase in 16 regular bed admissions, no jumps have been seen since May 28.
