Health officials have warned that cases of a rare polio-like condition may increase among children.
On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced health alerts This fall, it details an increase in severe respiratory illness that can lead to a condition called acute flaccid myelitis.

The virus is believed to be caused by the enterovirus D68. Some enteroviruses are very common and cause only mild illness. While symptoms of the common cold are typical, enteroviruses can cause even more dangerous symptoms in young immune systems.
