Monkeypox still low in Clark County
Recorded cases of monkeypox virus have continued to decline across Washington since reaching a peak of 76 cases in the week of July 31st.
The number of infected people in Clark County remains low. As of Monday, he has 10 recorded cases of monkeypox virus in Clark County. The county’s first recorded case occurred the week of July 10, and no new cases have been recorded since the week of August 21.
Clark County now accounts for 1.8% of Washington’s cases, with a total of 556 cases reported as of Monday, according to the Washington State Department of Health. To date, there have been no deaths associated with monkeypox.
In Clark County, one case of monkeypox resulted in hospitalization. Statewide, 15 cases have led to hospitalization, according to the state health department.
As monkeypox vaccination became more readily available, free vaccination clinics began popping up throughout the county. As of Monday, 232 vaccinations had been administered across Clark County, and 13,249 vaccinations were administered statewide, according to the Department of Health.
Earlier this week, the state health department Interactive Monkeypox Virus Data Dashboardto expand public access to information about monkeypox.
“While MPV cases are declining statewide, this outbreak is far from over. Access to information is essential for people to properly assess their risk factors and protect themselves.” said Dr. Umair A. Shah, Washington’s Health Secretary. “In addition to vaccination and prevention efforts, this new dashboard is another tool that Washington citizens can use to stay healthy and informed.”
A dashboard tool allows users to see the number of cases at the state and county level. Birth age group and sex of monkeypox patients. Number of vaccinations given at the state and county level. and total number of cases by week based on week of onset.
According to a press release, the State Department of Health is working to expand data to include race and ethnicity in communities most affected by monkeypox.
Dashboard data is updated every Tuesday and Thursday.
