UB Partners with ECDOH to Host Monkeypox Vaccine Clinic – UBNow: News and Views for UB Faculty
The Erie County Health Department (ECDOH) Monkeypox Vaccine Clinic On October 7th from 11am to 5pm, eligible members of the UB community will be at UB’s new Student Health Services Facility, 4350 Maple Road, Amherst. The clinic is open to UB students, faculty, and alumni, as well as those at high risk of contracting monkeypox.
Members of the UB community who are eligible to receive the vaccine are encouraged to register with the clinic in advance online.
Current New York state monkeypox (Jynneos) vaccine eligibility includes the following New Yorkers:
- Individuals who have been recently exposed to a suspected or confirmed case of monkeypox within the previous 14 days.
- Members of gay men, bisexual, transgender, gender nonconforming communities, and members of other communities of men who have sex with men and engage in intimate or skin-to-skin contact, have recently contracted monkeypox. People at high risk of exposure in the past 14 days with other people in areas where monkeypox is endemic.
- Individuals who have had skin-to-skin contact with someone in a social network experiencing monkeypox activity. This includes men who have sex with men who meet their partners through online websites, digital applications (“apps”), or social events such as social events. bars and parties.
- People who are at risk of future monkeypox infection, even if they are not currently at increased risk of monkeypox infection.
In addition to UB-sponsored clinics, ECDOH also hosts off-campus monkeypox clinics, which may be conveniently located for some UB students, faculty and staff.
