WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – With flu season fast approaching, New Hanover County Health and Human Services is hosting a flu vaccination drive-thru event to help prepare. As easy as any drive-thru, people who want a flu shot don’t have to get out of their car.
Anyone over the age of 6 months can get the flu vaccine at no cost.
Those wishing to attend this event will be directed to park in designated parking lots and will be immediately escorted to their vehicle by a nurse. The entire process takes her less than 5 minutes.
No reservation required. Also, people who want to take advantage of this free shot don’t have to live in New Hanover County.
Additionally, participants are not required to bring any documentation, but are encouraged to bring an insurance card to help them fill out the prescribed form. The clinic will cover all costs.
Colleen Applewhite, Immunization and Children’s Health Coordinator, explains the simple process.
“Rather than going to the local grocery store or clinic, you can actually drive in and just be in the car. No cold, no wet, rush over,” she said.
The event will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the New Hanover County Health and Human Services parking lot at 1650 Greenfield Street, Wilmington.
