Airports include New York’s JFK International Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Most of the 145 people arriving from Uganda each day have already landed at these airports. There are no direct flights to the United States from Uganda, where the outbreak began last month.

Rebecca Katz, director of the Center for Global Health Sciences and Security at Georgetown University, agreed the risk to Americans was low and supported the government’s move to take precautionary measures.
“This is about putting robust surveillance practices in place,” she said. The long incubation period of the virus may make temperature checks minimally effective, she said, but monitoring anyone who has been to Uganda is a smart move.
Katz said the recent pandemic will soften public reaction to Ebola news among some, but not all, people. “People are aware of infectious diseases. We now have the literacy to understand different types of infections,” she said.
No cases of the new Sudanese strain of Ebola virus have been reported outside of Uganda since the outbreak began in September, according to the CDC. said the health agency.
