Experts concerned about vaccine hesitation against COVID-19 as cold/flu season approaches

MINNEAPOLIS — After historically low levels of flu during the COVID-19 pandemic, experts expect the flu to return this winter.

Dr Gagnon said viral illnesses are on the rise across the board as COVID continues to cause concern.
“Unfortunately, our vaccines are helping save our lives. Hospitalizations and deaths are down, but we haven’t been able to nail down that infection the way we’d hoped.” ‘ she said.
As seen in Europe, a new wave of COVID has recently increased cases and hospitalizations.
“What’s happening in Europe looks like it’s starting to increase,” said Dr. Frank Rhame of Allina Health.
At a recent event, Dr. Anthony Fauci issued a warning, telling Americans to “keep your guard up.” He also noted the possibility of new, more dangerous COVID variants emerging this winter, as vaccine fatigue and confusion over the latest boosters remain concerns.
“We’re not doing a good job of getting people to accept bivalent boosters. Some people don’t even know about it,” Dr. Rhame said.
After all, as the winter season slowly approaches, experts say getting boosters can help save lives.
“I don’t want to give this to my grandma, which is a good reason to vaccinate as many as possible, so don’t vaccinate vulnerable people like friends and family,” Lam.
