Respiratory viruses fill emergency rooms
New England pediatric emergency rooms are reporting an unprecedented surge in respiratory illnesses. This will fill some hospitals and emergency beds.

Omicron has caused more COVID 19 and more children than we’ve seen in the last two years. Then it goes away. And sure enough, RSV starts rising again in summer instead of late fall. And now is the peak. It’s more prevalent than I’ve seen in any winter season I’ve been here. And this is true across New England.
And rhinovirus usually gives a little cold, but not much seasonal variation. But now it’s back and it’s making young children really sick.
