1,000 students absent with flu-like symptoms in Stafford County

Stafford County, Virginia — Nearly half of all students at Stafford High School were absent Friday due to “flu-like/gastrointestinal symptoms.”
About 1,000 students did not attend class, according to Sandra K. Osborne, Chief Communications Officer for Stafford County Public Schools. The high school had about 2,100 students, meaning that almost half of all students were absent due to illness.
Osborne explained that the school system’s health services team is working with local health departments to identify the root cause of the illness.
