Experts plan to issue an open letter this week, outlining why they believe the World Health Organization needs to revise its recommendations, according to the New York Times report.
WHO’s current guidance states that Covid-19 is transmitted from person to person, primarily through respiratory droplets and contact. However, the authors of the letter argue for new evidence that airborne transmissions may be more important than WHO has ever acknowledged.
A WHO spokesperson told CNBC on Monday that he was aware of the reported letter and that the technical experts of the organization are currently considering it. WHO added that it is likely to comment further on the report at a regular press conference held late Monday. — Sam Meredith
