HSE reports 607,000 new contact tracking app downloads since launch
According to HSE, the new Covid-19 tracker app was downloaded by about 607,000 people within hours of being up and running.
The Waterford Nearform developed app is used primarily for contact tracking, daily symptom checking and providing Covid-19 updates for Ireland.
HSE CEO Paul Reed said the solution to these problems was a staggering achievement.
Regarding the launch of the new app, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said it would enhance existing contact tracking laws.
The minister said it wasn’t a “silver bullet,” but would be a very powerful and important new tool in the fight against the coronavirus.
