Covenant Health, the organization that runs the hospital, confirmed a third death associated with the outbreak on Tuesday. Alberta Health has confirmed that the patient is a man in his 70s.
“Our compassion is at this difficult time with our family and loved ones,” Covenant Health said in a media announcement.
Two deaths, 32 cases associated with COVID-19 outbreak at Misericordia Community Hospital
The first outbreak-related case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Misericordia on June 21, according to the Alberta Department of Health.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the hospital had 17 patients who tested positive for COVID-19, according to the AHS. So far, 14 staff have tested positive for the disease and 3 have died, according to the AHS.
According to Covenant Health, no new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in patients in the last 24 hours, and the number of cases in staff has not changed over the last two days.

Patients who test positive will be cared together in three units, including a hospital-designated COVID-19 unit. On Monday, the AHS said eight units were included in the outbreak limit as a precautionary measure.
Also on Monday, AHS announced that the hospital suspended new hospitalizations and transfers for surgical and medical patients to reduce the risk of further transmission of the new coronavirus.
Many other measures were also implemented in hospitals, including limiting surgical capacity to day surgery. Overnight surgery may be postponed or completed elsewhere.
The hospital’s emergency department remains open, but the AHS said the EMS would take the patient to another hospital in Edmonton Zone.
Women currently working can continue to plan for childbirth in Misericordia, according to the AHS.
“Patients should be reassured that Misericordia is safe for their patients,” AHS said in a media release Monday.
Covenant Health is testing all patients in the affected units, and testing all staff who have worked on or participated in those units, even if they have no symptoms. I said.
The latest figures released by Alberta Health on Tuesday afternoon show that there were 620 COVID-19 active cases in the state, of which 243 were in the Edmonton zone.
Altogether, there were 8,436 COVID-19 cases and 157 deaths associated with this disease in Alberta. As of Tuesday afternoon, 7,659 people recovered from COVID-19.
