COVID-19, flu cause more hospitalizations in Billings
Hospitalizations in Billings increased in November due to respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19 and the flu, according to RiverStone Health officials.
Additionally, Yellowstone County’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 597 after RiverStone, the county’s public health department, confirmed six new COVID-19-related deaths.
RiverStone officials said in a news release that the rate of emergency department visits with respiratory symptoms at Billings Hospital reached its highest level this fall, more than doubling from the same period last year.
A Yellowstone County resident died of the flu in November. This is Montana’s first flu death of the season. Yellowstone County has had more than 630 confirmed cases of the flu so far this fall, including 363 of her cases under the age of 18. child.

Death reports for October and September were relayed by the Yellowstone County Clerk’s and Registrar’s Offices who received death certificates. All six men had underlying medical conditions that placed them at high risk of severe disease from COVID-19 infection.
