Fighting the West Nile: Port Gibson-An Organization Releasing Mosquito Repellents Thursday at the Vicksburg Post
Mississippi United, an organization created to respond to mosquito-bited West Nile and other viruses, puts mosquito repellent products in the Claiborne County at Port Gibson Fairgrounds in Claiborne County starting at 10 a.m. It will be distributed to residents.
In June 2020, the first human case in Mississippi West Nile was detected in Claybone County.
“West Nile and other illnesses from mosquito bites are as dangerous as COVID-19, but not well known.” According to campaign spokesman Sandra Jordan. “The Mississippi is united in health and humanity to combat mosquito-borne diseases.”
Jordan is infected by the West Nile virus and is a defender of the fight against mosquitoes.
Mississippi United has partnered with District 4 Coordinator Patricia Chambris and the Claiborne County Supervisory Commission in coordinating the event.
The event on Thursday will coincide with the weekly free food box gifts already scheduled at the fairgrounds.
