Asymptomatic tests reach thousands of workers in the UK | Society
The government will screen tens of thousands of people in the UK for jobs at high risk of catching Covid-19 for viruses.
Taxi drivers, sweepers, and shop assistants will be tested as part of an immediate pilot plan. Department of health Social Care (DHSC) said the scheme hopes to improve its understanding of the spread of the virus among people at high risk.
Meanwhile, new numbers indicate that the government failed to meet its goal of returning all test results within 24 hours by the end of June.
Boris Johnson made a promise to former Secretary of Defense Jeremy Hunt in a prime minister’s question in early June, fearing that the Covid-19 was not well tested. However, DHSC statistics showed that the percentage of completed tests in the time frame increased only marginally.
Pilot test schemes include BT, boots, taxi company Addison Lee and service company Mitie. Bradford, Newham, Brent and Oldham municipalities also select groups of people at high risk Asymptomatic test.
Care worker and some NHS Staff will already have access to asymptomatic tests, which pilots will extend further. According to the DHSC, each business involved will undergo thousands of tests on its staff for home or mobile test units.
Local authorities book exams for people at on-site testing grounds. Those who test positive need to be self-isolated, the results can be shared with NHS testing and tracking programs, and contacts can be found, the ministry said.
