Three new UK coronavirus hotspots with rapidly increasing cases
Three new coronavirus hotspots have been named in the list of the top 10 worst hit areas.
According to British public health data, Bedford, Peterborough and Blackburn have increased Covid-19 infection rates.
This is despite a sharp fall across the rest of the UK, including Black Country, which fell in numbers at Wolverhampton, Walsall and Dudley this week.
Birmingham has risen slightly from 6 to 6.3, but Bedford, Peterborough and Blackburn figures surprise the Director of Health.
Leicester has a population of 116 per 100,000, followed by Rochdale (32.7) and Bradford (31.8).
However, in Peterborough the number has increased from 17.4 to 21.4 and in Blackburn it has likewise increased from 23 to 33.6.
Bedford rose to 18.6.
The only places in West Midlands with more than 10 infections per 100,000 are Nuneaton and Bedworth at 10.1, and Cannock Chase at 10.0.
