Two children die of a disease like the Kawasaki disease associated with the British coronavirus
Mysterious new Coronavirus related The disease has hit the headline in the last few weeks after several cases have been seen in children around the world.
The disease is described as “inflammatory syndrome”, similar to Kawasaki disease And toxic shock syndrome.
Doctors across the UK are now pooling data to uncover the true range of mysterious conditions called childhood inflammatory multisystem syndrome (PIMS).
In the study, researchers looked at data for 78 children admitted to 15 intensive care units in the 6 weeks from April to May 2020.
According to the data, 78% of the hospitalized children were black, Asian, or ethnic minority children.
All cases had fever and various symptoms such as shock, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Most of the children were discharged within a week, but sadly two children died.
Dr. Patrick Davis, a pediatric intensive care physician who is a principal investigator and consultant at Nottingham Children’s Hospital, said:
“It can cause serious illness, but this condition appears to be rare. The secret to successful treatment is the close cooperation of many specialists.”
Further investigation of the data by the team revealed that most children did not have positive evidence of Covid-19.
But they had antibodies to the disease, indicating they were recently infected in the past.
Dr. Padmanabhan Ramnarayan, senior author and consultant for Pediatric Intensive Care Retrieval at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), said: ..

“But many aspects of the condition remain unclear, such as why it affects only some children, or what are the long-term effects of being in this condition.
“One of our findings is that a small number of patients will have complications such as coronary aneurysms.
“This clearly underscores the importance of following up with these patients, and this will be high on the agenda of clinical teams at GOSH and elsewhere.”
