“It’s Not a Regular Weekend”: 1 New Coronavirus Death, 216 New in Victoria
Victoria has reported one new death from the coronavirus and 216 outbreaks of the coronavirus over the last 24 hours, with health authorities fighting over 100 outbreaks across the state.
Australian coronavirus deaths are currently 107 years old, and a man in his 90s died of the virus overnight while in hospital.
More than 180 of the new cases are still under investigation and 30 are related to known outbreaks.
The total number of cases in the state has reached 3,560, with 49 patients hospitalized and 15 receiving intensive care.
Professor Brett Sutton, Victoria’s chief health officer, said a single case was documented among staff at a nursing home.
“In essence, we are experiencing over 100 outbreaks [in Victoria]…More and more cases in elderly care facilities, and we need to be able to handle them. “
“It’s not a trivial weekend”
Victorian Prime Minister Daniel Andrews urged residents to follow lockdown rules.
“This is not a regular weekend. Other than that. If you are in the capital city of Melbourne or the area of Mitchell Shire, you need to be at home.”
The four reasons to leave home are: If you cannot exercise, work, or study at home or raising children.
On Friday, Victoria Recording 288 new coronavirus cases surge, The state has been trying to stop the outbreak of community infections over the past three weeks.
Residents of Metropolitan Melbourne and Shire of Mitchell are eligible for a six-week Stage 3 lockdown.
“It’s frustrating, inconvenient, challenging, and at the same time we can’t deny the reality of the situation we are facing,” said Andrews.
He said police would fine and fine those who violated the lockdown rules significantly.
“This is very serious. The stakes are very high.”
“If people make selfish choices…they aren’t the only ones to pay for. We all do it. Lockdown gets even longer.”
Up to 2 million reusable masks made in Australia were ordered as the state government updated its official advice on wearing face masks on Friday.
Andrews warned that wearing a mask would “characterize our response for a very long time, especially when we arrived on the other side of this closure.”
Although wearing a mask is not mandatory, he said it is highly recommended as a “low cost, high reward” strategy.
“No mask is absolutely certain. No mask can reduce the risk of infection to zero, but it helps a little and every contribution.”
Disposable respirators are procured to ensure stockpiling, especially for healthcare professionals.
Professor Sutton said he expects the number of cases to peak over the next five days.
“With respect to the Stage 3 limitations across Metro Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, it will be effective in the next 3-5 days.”
“But there are people who need to go to work, and when you have the great pressure of infection we have in number now, we know there is an infection… and so We cannot guarantee that it will turn around.”
Seven new cases have been recorded in New South Wales and two new cases have been registered in Queensland.
Five of the New South Wales cases were travelers returned to the Hotel Quarantine, and two were men from Melbourne and a visitor from the Crossroads Hotel in Casula on 3 July.
