Health officials told people celebrating July 4th at a sandbar on Lake Torch in northwestern Michigan to self-monitor COVID-19 after several people who tested there tested for coronavirus. Seeking

On Friday, the Department of Health in Northwest Michigan announced a press release saying it had been notified of another case by another unnamed Department of Health. The number of cases associated with the Torch Lake festival has not been revealed.

According to a press release, a case study of people who tested positive revealed that “many individuals” may have been exposed to COVID-19 in the sandbar.

According to the press release, “In the positive case, attendees could be at risk because we were unable to provide the identity of all potential contacts, and we will see additional cases in the coming days. I would like to inform the general public that there is a possibility that it will be done.”

Those on the Torch Lake sandbar on the weekend of July 4th will need to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. Authorities said testing should be done if symptoms occur, or if you are in the immediate vicinity of another person with a sandbar, or if you are at high risk of exposure because you are not covering your mask or face.

“This situation reminds us how important it is to take precautions, such as avoiding the largest possible gatherings, especially without social distance or masking,” said Northwest Michigan Department of Health Lisa. Peacock said in a press release.

“Unfortunately, this is not an isolated event, and if we can’t identify close contacts and quarantine isn’t warned, the community is at risk. Each of us is responsible for keeping us safe. It is not possible to stress enough how important it is to fulfill. Keep it open.”

According to health officials, people who are self-monitoring for coronavirus symptoms should be kept as far as possible from others and restricted from traveling. Symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after the day of exposure. Those wishing to test the virus should wait five days before taking the test and self-isolate until the results are available.

Symptoms range from mild to severe and include fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of taste and smell, or diarrhea.

If you experience any symptoms, please contact your doctor or local health department for an examination. You can contact the Northwest Michigan Health Department at 1-800-432-4121.
