129 new COVID-19 cases reported in Ontario, many in the Toronto and Peel areas
Ontario recorded another 129 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, creating less than 200 new daily cases in almost two weeks.
The majority of new cases reported today are concentrated in the Toronto, Peel, Ottawa, and York regions, with 36, 30, 10, and 9 cases, respectively.
Currently, there are 36,723 confirmed viruses in the state and 32,534 have been marked as resolved.
Of 34 public health departments in Ontario, 27 reported less than 5 new cases, and 18 did not report any new cases.
A network of approximately 30 community, commercial and hospital laboratories in Ontario processed 25,726 test samples of the new coronavirus on Saturday. An additional 16,174 tests are currently under investigation.
The state also reported three more deaths due to a new tally of 2,719. However, based on data provided by the public health department, CBC News’ counts show that the actual toll is 2,752.
The number of confirmed cases of new coronavirus infections in hospitals in Ontario continues to decline, now at 116.
Twenty-nine have been treated in the intensive care unit, the lowest number in the last few months. 19 of them are in the ventilation system.
290 migrant workers still active in Windsor Essex
Despite just seven new cases today, multiple outbreaks among migrant workers on farms have caused cases of COVID-19 in the Windsor Essex area over the last few weeks.
Hundreds of migrant workers have tested positive for the virus, killing three. Two of them died in Windsor Essex and one died in Norfolk County.
